The concreting works, and progress with the equipment supplied by Rubrica for the construction of the bridge arch over the Almonte River, have started. The first 2 sets of equipment start at the South side of the world’s longest railway arch bridge (384 m without intermediate supports). During the concreting of segment no. 3 (on both branches,) a load test has been carried out with very satisfactory results. The cart progressing maneuvers have been carried out afterwards to the next segment, as well as positioning of the equipment for carrying out segment no. 4, checking the project parameters during the progressing maneuvers.
The formwork project for the bridge over Almonte River project has been an engineering challenge due to the complexity of the arch cross-section, to the segment sizes, and to the characteristics of the concrete.
