What is it?
Pile guiding is an essential process in maritime engineering that involves the precise installation of piles in structures such as docks, platforms, and coastal works. This procedure ensures that the piles are placed in the correct position through meticulous topographic layout, thereby ensuring the stability and durability of the infrastructures over water.

Our Experience in Colombia

This guidance system is specifically designed to operate in offshore environments, installed on a barge.
The barge has a limited space of 21.5 meters in length and 6.45 meters in width for the equipment installation. The sea level is at -3.2 meters relative to the upper deck of the barge, while the finished level of the piles is at -1.5 meters.

The system consists of three rails welded to the barge, on which three independent guidance structures are mounted. The transversal position of these structures is adjustable, allowing for different configurations or distances between the piles to be driven.

Each guidance structure includes two guiding levels, spaced 10.55 meters apart. This is due to the great length of the piles, which need to be driven in two sections that are welded together while both remain secured by the guidance structure. To facilitate this work, the system is equipped with platforms that enable the welding and finishing of the piles to be carried out safely and efficiently.

Additionally, the system allows for the adjustment of the pile by +/- 400 mm in both the longitudinal and transversal axes relative to the barge, while also allowing the passage of the pile sleeve and the vibratory hammer through the upper guiding level.

A key feature of the system is that the front part of the structure can open, allowing the pile to be released once driven, facilitating the movement of the barge to proceed with the next pile.
