(The Tunnel Guillermo Gaviria Echeverri is the Main tunnel of the Toyo Tunnel)
The Toyo tunnel is a mega road infrastructure project located in the department of Antioquia, Colombia. The project is articulated with the 4G Highways, specifically the Vías Mar 1 and Mar 21 located to the west of Antioquia. This seeks to connect the cities and production centers in the interior of the country with the sea of Urabá and the ports that are being built in this region. At the end of the construction of the main tunnel, it would be the longest in the American continent, surpassing the Túnel de la Línea (8,580 m) and the Túnel de Oriente (8,200 m), also located in Colombia.
The Guillermo Gaviria Echeverri Tunnel Megaproject and its access roads are part of the Prosperity Highways executed by the National Government through its fourth generation 4G road concession program.

The purpose of the project is to improve the connectivity conditions of Medellín with Urabá Antioquia and in general of the department of Antioquia with the center of the country, the Pacific and Atlantic Coasts, also managing to optimize transportation and facilitate foreign trade, as well as flows of products and merchandise destined for the national market.
